History Of The Supreme Court

The Supreme Court originated from the constitution, along with the other branches of government. However, unlike the other branches, the judicial branch had no specifications on how it would run. Not only was the supreme court incredibly vague in how it was set up, but it was also much more limited than the other branches of government. In 1801 John Marshall became the chief justice of the court, and used his leadership to establish the role of the supreme court.
